I absolutely adore this bass for recording its nothing special but just is so mellow and naturally compressed..

I am using a tube preamp sim from my Line6 Toneport GX(the cheap one) from the add on Bass pack, no cabinet simulation and a tad of reverb... Now if I can just learn to play I would be ok hhahaha.

I can post an isolated clip later but here is some of my Line 6 Toneport stuff.

I too use the tube pre but if you upgrade to the GearBox software for free there is a Bass Gain (don't know off the top of my head) setting under the distortion pedals where it adds a TON of meat to the sound.

I am growing quite fond of my OLP bass here is a clip: I bit of a warning, it is heavier music. I am playing everything except drums.

Here are some others on my site. Same settings all of them (Line 6 Tube pre) with a Jazz bass except for Warm Winter which was recorded with a MusicMan SUB active. EVERYTHING including drums was recorded through the Line 6 tube pre.

My MIM Fender with Basslines Hot and Vintage with a BAII I use for just about everything.

I too would like to see more sounds posted here on TB. It's a music site, so let's hear some of it. Don't worry how rough it is - I don't! :D

My Warmothstatusnordstrandjretrobadass Jazz is what I normally use for recording now (unless I want to use my fretless).

Here's a track for you - it's actually a live performance rather than a studio recording, but it's the easiest thing for me to link to right now. I might try and get something else uploaded later if you'd like a listen. :)

Great thread idea! For the heaviest, phattest tone, I rely on my DiPinto Belvedere semi-hollow. My last band is now defunct, but you can hear the DiPinto on the tracks "Dry" and "Taillights" on our old MySpace page:

They were a blend of the direct signal and a miked up G-K Neo112 cab.

Still my main bass and will probably be buried with me, my Roscoe Beck sig V.

This morning my band recorded a bunch of new cover tunes (Zep, Sublime, RHCP, Tragically Hip, etc.) for a new demo pack. I will post them to my MySpace site hopefully tomorrow when my guitard finishes mixing them.:smug:

I recorded with my new EBMM SR5 with no effects or amp direct to the board through a crappy Behringer DI box. I am very happy with how they turned out!

Here's some clips of me using a parts jazz bass (the one in the picture) in the studio with an indie rock guitarist/singer:

The engineer plugged me into a Radial JDI and the signal was split into a Fender Bassman rig which was mic'd for some dirtier tone. I think the two signals were blended in the final mix (although I wasn't involved in that...)

Oh, the bass had a 70s reissue body and pickups, Allparts neck and Gotoh hardware.
