Rc-2 vs Rc-20XL?

I think the general consensus was that the RC-2 looked like it had too many functions all in one spot, but none of us had gotten to play one while we all loved the RC-20xl.

from what i can tell, the rc2 does the same thing as the rc20xl... it's smaller, and you can't immediately access all the same functions with your feet (you have to hook up external footswitches), but besides that, all the features are identical.

since it's not been released to the general public yet, not that many people have had a chance to use it... so not too many practical comparisons exist between the two. soon, if i understand correctly!

I've read a lot of independent reviews on these pedals, but was curious about

1- What can the RC-2 do the RC20xl can't (and visa versa)

2- Is it harder to use the RC-2 because of the single pedal?

OK, I emailed Roland to find out the differences between the two and they sent me this. Just thought yall might want to know.

Question: I am interested in buying a boss loop pedal, but I have not been able
to find out the differences between the RC-2 and RC-20xl pedals. I am looking
for an informed individual to tell me the true piratical differences between the
two, not just copy and past what is on the boss website.
Does the rc-20xl have a drum feature and does the RC-2 have a metronome?

Hello John,
They are very similar actually. The only differences would be;

- The RC-2 contains a Rhythm Guide that has 33 built-in rhythms. - (There's only
a metronome in the RC-20XL).
- The RC-20XL has a dedicated MIC input and the ability to play loops in reverse
(not found in the RC-2). It also has a reverse footswitch input jack.
- With the use of external foot switches, it's possible to increment *and*
decrement through the phrases in the RC-20XL - (You can only increment with an
external footswitch in the RC-2).
- The RC-20XL has a Center Cancel and Flat Amp simulator feature for the Aux
input.

Why are there two switches on the 20XL?

i own and love a rc20XL

dont fix what aint broken.

My buddy plays a RC-2 live and makes changes on the fly
with an oversized knob and the adjustment with his toe.
