Just picked up this ‘79 pre-EB Sabre. Touch of a fixer upper but it plays and sounds great.

Thank you! Its an absolute dream, perfect with the Lusithand 800BMF. If I were to do it over, I'd go less flashy, but I love it so much.

3 within 30 days !!!!!! Legend . Here's My '78 Rick, my dream bass since I was a kid.

Also, my Custom Samson from Kithara in N. Ireland. Built in fuzz circuit from NRG effects, it rules. Novak BS/DS and a gold foil. Chris was a pleasure to work with on all fronts and I recommend working with him with gusto. Would love to see him offer a 34" scale bass.

Now, now...I know people have their strong opinions on relic jobs, but I like it on this one. Don't know if I'll ever do it again, though. I get the "stolen valor" thing. For me, simple as "looks cool, pre dinged, don't mind dinging." Not trying to fool anybody. Any player will know its a relic job instantly, but I always correct anyone who asks "whoa, how old is that thing?!"

Red Warmoth parts build with an RGI neck that is great lookin and great sounding, but think about the worst neck dive you've ever experienced, and imagine playing it on Jupiter with its 2.5x gravity. Thing doesn't dive it sinks, it plummets, it cannonballs lol. Neck is way heavier than the swamp ash body. Gonna mess around with strap button placement and see if i can fix it, but may just take it off and put it on a heavier bod. Love the Nordy poly voxes in it.

Fellow RGI user let's go! Alex makes the best necks, my guitar has one too (it's a pretty early one too, shortly after he started business!)

Yup. I can’t find the unlined fretless w/piezo pickups on their website anymore. (Was looking for insurance purposes). The white one originally had a white pick guard. The one to the right is Egyptian Smoke. The only bass I bought just for the cool color.

Left to right:

• Kramer DMZ-4001 (not sure of the model) - My first bass. I bought it in 1998. It has a punchy P-bass sound with more bite.
• Obstructures Model 34 - My 3rd bass and my main since 2000. It's the 1st solid aluminum prototype, and it weighs over 16 pounds (7.3 kg)! It currently has a Bartolini MM pickup (passive) mounted a little farther from the bridge than a typical MM. The frequency response is very wide and flat from deep lows to searing highs.
• Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray 5 HH [2024] - My newest bass. I just bought it a couple of days ago from a local shop. It's my 1st 5-string and 1st real MM.
• Ibanez Sound Gear SR800 (early 2000s?) - I inherited this from a late family member earlier this year. It needs some setup work, and the preamp is only partially working. It's super light, and I'm sure it'll play great after I work on it.

My 2nd bass (bought in 1999) was this Travis Bean below. I liked it a lot, but after getting the Obstructures bass I no longer played it. I sold it to a friend who I knew would make use of it.

Below is a newer prototype Model 34. It's not my own, but it has become my main in this band. It's a little lighter and much more balanced than my old prototype.

I have nearly a twin of your Ibanez. Mine's a 1990 SR800le, jewel blue. Has the red writing on the pickups (forget what it says), I've had it for years. Can't bring myself to sell it, many "better" instruments have come and gone in the time I've had it.

Couldn't resist. Looks to me like an 81-82 Fernandes revival FPB-70. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

These Basses scared the hell out of both Fender US and Japan.

After buying 4 Basses, a 1940s Rickenbacher Ace (yeah, old spelling) lap steel, and an 8-string Canopus Buckie console steel this past month, I really thought that was me done for the year. Then this pops up. Damn you to hell.

I had one of these from 1978 (the Stone logo era), but unfortunately when I ordered it online to the seller didn't mention that the neck was warped beyond repair. So I had to get a replacement neck.
