Building a Precision 5er

well since fender dont offer what i want im gonna make what i want, honestly, why dont they offer just a plain american series 5er?

well, so far, i got no idea wether to go warmoth or usa custom guitars parts....

so far planned is:
Ash/Swamp Ash Body
Maple/Maple Neck (black binding and blocks undecided)
Black Pickguard
Nordstrand Pickup
Hipshot A Style Bridge
Hipshot Ultralites

heath - I solved the same quandry converting a 4 string "B" neck P with an EMG pickup (which has rails not pole pieces). An adjustable spacing bridge, new nut/tuner.

This guy has a talent for converting 4's to 5vr's...

I recommend him (no affiliation) as a no fuss way to get a true 5 string P.

in all honesty, id rather buy the parts and build it myself than buy something from someone who i cant try, yes, i am going to be buying parts without trying but they way i see it, id rather spend xxx $ for the same parts to just assemble it myself (i am a fitter/machinist after all) than xxxx $ for those same parts that someone else will put together...plus those valenti headstocks are ugly as

conversion isnt really for me, squeezing an extra string onto a 4 string bass just isnt appealing.....i played a 5 string rick that felt like that and it was awful

True, but if you don't like what you built, you have to sell it. Valenti basses sell for a lot more then the standard parts bass here on TB. You don't like a Valenti bass, I offer a 5 day approval period on 90% of the basses I build. I don't think any parts company offers that but I may be mistaken.

I just asked my headstock and it told me the feeling is mutual. :eek: ;)
