Schecter Stiletto Elite-4 or Studio-4?

Well, it's a tricky one there mate, they're almost identical spec-wise.

The Studio has a 3 band EQ, which might be a bit more useful than the 2 band on the Elite, however I think the Elite looks better as it has a hidden neck-through design. The Elite also has separate bridge pieces which cut down string to string vibration.
To be honest, if you ain't fussed about the EQ, it's pretty much down to looks, I reckon the Elite looks better.

Sorry, that probably ain't much use.

Yeah, the choice between the two is very tough. I personally went for the black cherry Elite-4 because of the look and finish; the other differences were not really important to me. I did try both in a store, and still preferred my Elite-4's sound. Here's the differences:

THE FINISH
  • The Elite-4 has a mahogany body and a figured maple top. The bass has a gloss finish.
  • The Studio-4 has a mahogany/bubinga body. The bass has a satin finish.
  • SUGGESTION: Pick the prettier one. :D
THE NECK
  • The Elite-4 neck and headstock binding are creme-colored. There is a single fret inlay - a diamond at the 12th fret. The neck has a gloss finish.
  • The Studio-4 has offset dot inlays instead of a single diamond inlay. There is no binding. The neck has a satin finish. Both necks are the same dimensions otherwise.
  • SUGGESTION: Some people find a satin neck to allow for faster playing, but it's a minor difference for me. Pick whichever is more comfortable for your playing.
THE HARDWARE
  • The Elite-4 has reflective gold hardware. The bridge is different than the Studio-4, but I don't see any significant difference other than the look.
  • The Studio-4 has satin gold hardware.
  • SUGGESTION: Pick the prettier one. :D
THE ELECTRONICS
  • The Elite-4 has a two-band EQ (The EMG BTS System) and is prewired for a 9V supply (it can be altered to support 18V, though). The treble center frequency is tweakable.
  • The Studio-4 has a three-band EQ (The EMG B64EQ System). and is prewired for an 18V supply. It's important to note that this three-band EQ is a narrow-band EQ, with the mid knob set for a lower frequency than normal; this is excellent for funkier styles, but I prefer the broadband reach of a more conventional two-band or three-band EQ. EMG claims it's less musical than a broadband EQ, but does wonders for funky styles.
  • SUGGESTION: Pick the one that's best for your style of playing. If you use a lot of slap techniques or play a lot of funkier bass lines, the 18V headroom and narrow-band EQ will be more useful to you. Otherwise, the 9V broadband EQ system is still really good. Both have a tweakable treble frequency, anyway.
The basses are virtually identical in their other features, even in neck wood composition and neck-through design. The Studio-4 does feel a bit heavier, though.

Hopefully, this little side-by-side analysis helps!

I have the Elite 5, and no the studio is not heavier the Elite is way heavier. like someone has said they are basicly the same bass I love my Elite, but if u get it be sure to have a wide strap to off set the wt of this bass. I play a lot of funk, smooth jazz, and classic rock either way u go u win.

Interesting... I had a different experience. In the store, the Elite-4 was lighter than the Studio-4. My old Custom-4 was MUCH lighter than both of them. However, the store's Custom-4 was as heavy as the Elite-4.

Looks like there's some significant variation in weight...

Yeah... in the end, the differences aren't really that significant.

I really don't know, but I did try a Studio, and really was lighter than my Elite, in fact thats why I was looking at it, but i think that added wt is good for some things man this bass will hold a note forever, last week i hit a hermonic note and juz let it ring, they thaought someone was getting feedback, the note juz rang
