Just pulled the trigger on a Benavente SCD

Just done it... I'm counting hours already ! :hyper:

Neck Through SCD 5 string,34" scale, Walnut Body, , Buckeye Burl Top Cream and Cookies, 5 pc Ash and Wenge Neck, Ebony Fingerbord, Benavente amp, active/passive, vol/vol/vol, bass, mid, treble.
Triple slims pickups: 2 in the bridge, one in the neck

I believe this is going to be a nice sounding bass, I'm thinking especially for jazz and fusion...

I dealt a lot with Brian at LowEnd... great guy and great service !

Wow, is this the same bass tested on Bassplayer some time back ?
If so, I used it for reference specifically for the top... I like it a lot !
It is, it was tested in the March 2003 issue. It was the spark that set my custom basses flame so to speak. Two years later it was being offered through The Low End. It has had the Demeter preamp switched to Benavente, thereby eliminating the only 'con' in the test, before a long journey to The Netherlands. To my knowledge it still is the only Bennie in the country...

I disattended this thread for a while... I was trying not to think too much of it... but actually I was obsessed with it !

Finally some progress... it should be ready by mid-May.... :hyper:

Meantime it became a SCD6 with a 18mm string spacing at the bridge...

The top is different than what I had originally chosen , here the actual piece that will go on it... I'm counting days...

WOW!!!

That top's INSANE!!!

You will love it! I'm in the works on possibly another for myself. Here's mine... the first SCD monster built. Buckeye is really a must see "in person" kind of wood. Pics can't really do one justice. I had mine updated with the new pre and I am amazed by the perfect tone I can get. Keep us updated on how it goes.

....and to prove it I will finally soon get my hands on my first custom....

The chosen burl top didn't fit, so I "had" to switch the this one... I think it works nice ! :hyper:
