hi guys,
i've got a problem with my 70's ampeg svt : sound is going up sometimes and randomly while i'm playing. Tubes have been changed recently, maybe it could be the capacitors ? Does Anyone know what could be wrong ?
thanks for your help
Do you mean the volume actually increases and comes back down to the level you
had it set at while playing through it for awhile? Usually with tube amps you hear of
the volume level cutting in and out and it's a matter of sorting out the power output
stage of the amp. With a vintage SVT head I'd take it to a good amp tech as these
beasts are one of the most complicated tube heads ever made and like a vintage
sports car of elegant design they do need to be serviced on a regular basis.
Hi Schnake,
where do you live I know of an excellant tech who know your amp like the back of his hand. His name is Dennis Krager from Central Jersey Music Service he was with Ampeg for alot of years. He may have helped design the SVT. I think he knows more about that amp then anyone else out there. His phone number is 732-572-1911. Call him ask his about your problem.
Thanks to all, actually i live in france so new jersey will be a bit far ...
i just gave the amp to my tech and post the answer as soon i get it back.
