Smart Idea...big shame though!

I think that is a really good idea, and it has been pulled off with what look to be high quality results. The reason it looks so odd is that it is a bastardisation of very familiar shape. For me the finish of the body and pic-guard really clash with the overall shape and feel.

To improve the looks of this bass the body should be refinished and perhaps be sprayed a matt black, the pic-guard could do with being a flat dark colour (perhaps red) too.

Pretty much agree. The colors make it look funkier than it is.
