Vintage Stingray "A" String Retainer?

Hey gang,

Anyone know of an after-market string retianer for the "A" string on a Pre-EB Music Man Stingray that won't require drilling into the headstock in any way?

Long story is I've got a bit of a head scratcher here. I'm the owner of a 79' fretless Pre-EB Music Man Stingray which is in need of some nut work by my local luthier. Given how high the "A" string sits in the nut saddle it'd be really great if there was a product that would hold it down without requiring something be drilled into the face of the headstock.

My luthier has recommended I try to source something like a Fender Stealth String Retainer, but for a Music Man Stingray. Unfortunately, the former while being an amazing bit of kit isn't something that's compatible with Music Man tuners. Therefore I'm turning to the community.

Anybody out there know of a product similiar the the below Fender Stealth String Retainer, but more universal?

Anyone have any ideas that don't require drilling or maybe will use the current string retainers hole that I haven't thought of?

How about a custom piece that attaches to the present button retainer, either from above the button or under neath.

That headstock makes me wonder why they bothered with the G but ignored the A; strange happenings in River City.
