Homebrew Hematoma

Did a search already. MOST of it was for sale stuff.

Does anyone have any experience with it? I might order one soon. I'm looking for another good OD pedal. Looking for deep gritty, choppy, grindy(?) OD. Something a little different from my Bass-Drive. Just looking for any information. Can't find much on it, a couple samples, a few threads here and other places. But not much detailed info. And it always helps to get personal opinions. Anything would be great. :help:

You did a search and didn't see my multiple posts, reviews, samples, and recommendations for one? :smug:

It is a little different the Bass Drive, but not incredibly so. The Hematoma has less treble, more gain, and looks cooler than the Bass Drive. Sounds smoother but isn't nearly as versatile, although the boost channel is really great, much better than the boost on the Bass Drive, as it can be run as a clean boost or to drive the distortion side even further into awesomeness. I ended up ditching the Hematoma and keeping the Bass Drive, but it took nearly a year to come up with that decision.

I have compiled a list of the things I want in my OD tone. Grind, growl, grit, chop, crunch, thickness and no buzz. Looked at the Pigtronix OFO Disnortion. It claims to be all of those. And it has a useless (to me) up octave in it.

i have a hematoma and mostly really like it. one thing worth mentioning about it though is that it's a darker sound than a lot of pedals. it seems like you might want a pedal that pops out a little bit more, but everybody's experience is of course different. one option might be the fatman/v2 by 3xfx, which i haven't tried personally but have heard good things about here.

I keep the tone knob on my bass only a 1/4 of the way up and the tone knob on my Bass-Drive all the way down ... I like dark.

Here's what I've learned about the Hematoma so far

It's different than a Bass-Drive, but not by much. So having both is redundant. It has less treble and more gain. It's smoother but not as versatile. It's got a dark and warm sound. Gets a little fuzzy at higher gain settings. True bypass. Removes highs and adds grind. Slightly muffled.

That about describe it?

I'm looking for a dark sound, not so much smooth though. I want grit and grind.
