Digitech Whammy with bass?

hmmm innovative idea... I don't think I've heard of anyone doing this before! but shhhh don't tell anybody! in fact delete this thread! buy one now and practice with it non-stop for a few years, then come out of your cacoon and release a hit album with it, no one will have any idea how you are getting those amazing sounds!!!

Ok, I recently got a whammy IV. I was gonna sell it, but then I liked it enough to keep it after further consideration. It tracks well enough, sounds somewhat digital (I know it is a digital effect, but not every one sounds as digital and processed) and sterile at times. But, there is no other pedal that does this kind of stuff, so I decided to keep the one trick ponny.

After some time, it got me thinking: "what if the older bass whammy or the original whammy sounds better in terms of issues I stated above?" Given that they were manufactured by DOD and was sold at the times where cost-performance ratio is at a more favorable position towards the musicians. Then I ask some friends, they asked some of the their friends, then.. Well you see where this is going. Short story long, I was able to lay my hands to both of them for about a week.

Bass whammy sounded really good, especially on the octave stuff. It tracked slightly better and had warmer sound to it (Turn off the A/C, vintage gear will warm up the room! What a hype! J.K.). It still does sound somewhat sterile at times, but not as much as the newer one. IMO, it has more things to do with EQ then the effect (slightly rolled of trebles at extremes, or better bass response that make it looks like this). Then I tried the original whammy, I didn't like it as much as I like the bass whammy or the re-issue. I had my suspicions that it might sound really a lot better with a guitar, but didn't tried it at the time.

As a conclusion, even though I think bass whammy sounds about 35% better than the Whammy IV, it really doesn't justify the 300% higher price tag. So I sticked with the re-issue and am happy with it.

Just my 2 cents.

But it's "stuck" not "sticked." Don't let it get you down, though.

Yes, two things

1) search
2) whammy IV does not have the 5th-Oct ^, which is the most musical whammy setting IMO.
