neat!

I had to pass on Chef's 5L, beautiful black wood, but I'm looking for something in a solid color with a sixties vibe... turquoise, sky blue, the like.

Like This? (I know, where's the "B"eef...)

Yeah, that's a killer color. There's been a lot of hot JJs floating around, but seriously, I've got all the 4 string jazz hotness I could ask for right now. My passive, Aero equipped Marcus Miller just tears faces off as far as that's concerned. I'm definitely interested in the totally different vibe of the 5L, however.

Hey, that trout looks tasty.
mmmmmmm, trout.

As some of you may have survived when I listed the Blackwood, my TFB420, my Mesa 400, my G&L Climax hot-rod, and my completely kicka** factory restored 1981 G&L L1000,
"I'm up to something."

That's all for now tho.

Ha!

Is the 400 officially gone? What about those tasty Mesa 15s? Send me a PM if either are still available...

FWIW, I had the pots and caps replaced (and a new wiring harness built) for my Dawgfish after consulting with my tech (same guy who worked on the BH5). Basically, he removed the somewhat crappy/cheapo stock pots and caps and replaced them with a no-load tone pot, a top-quality volume pot, and a high-end capacitor as well as good wire.

I think it sounds a little better -- more dynamic range perhaps? It's hard to say since there was obviously no chance to A/B the bass before and after the work. However, I'd have to say that it seems to have a sweeter top end.

I'm thinking of having him do the same work on my #1, the white PJ.

FWIW, I kept the old parts.

Hey, that's my old fish!!!!

(And I believe I bought it from Quad.....)

Yep, and he got it from me, I got it from the original owner, after getting a Hot Tip from Matt; I got it back from you, and I traded it to someone named Dennis (I think) for the Fendowski (USA Fender P-bass modded with Sadowski Pup, Preamp & VTC. Notice all those Knobs! ) in California.
