Silverburst T-Bird?

Have you seen the Silverburst Les Paul guitars? Personally, I don't like them at all. They look cheap to me. Kind of like something's missing. Like a color TV show or movie has a small part of it that they made black and white! I think it's a finish that you'll either love or hate. That's just me, of course. Some of you probably love it, and I don't mean to disparage anybody's tastes. It's just not for me.

A 1978 silverburst les paul custom is my dream guitar. Once theyve aged a bit they look a little less cheesy. I dont like that finish in all instruments though. I'm a big SG fan and I had the chance to get one of the new silverburst sg standards and I passed. The guys in mastadon all have silverburst instruments and it looks sweet.

subscribed. i'm buying a t-bird soon, but silverburst probably won't be available yet, so i think i'll go with pelham blue and maybe a fancy replacement pickguard. i'd really love to see how the silverburst looks though. i bet it's super modern looking!

As the proud owner of a 1980 SILVERBURST Les Paul Custom, I have to say it is THE SHIZZ! But, having seen the newer Gibsons with a silverburst finish I have to say they don't look nearly as nice...its still a cool finish though! Not sure how it looks on a THunderbird, but it looks good on the new RD's....:bassist:

:D

I had the exact same experience as the OP. In fact, I almost posted here. Thought "Epi T-bird in Silverburst?" Then was disappointed when I couldn't find a pic...didn't notice it had a Sept. availability date.

I like the silverburst Les Pauls I've seen, but as someone said, I think it has to be on the right instrument. I'd really have to see one before I bought.

Incidentally, I have thought of an Epi T-bird a lot over the past few months. Can anyone post a close up pic of the Pelham Blue? In the only pics I've seen, it doesn't look metallic. Is it a metallic like LPB or CAR? It looks substantially different from the Pelham Blue of the 60s.

This is close to how it would look on this ESP RD clone

i have a thunderbird. i had it for about a month and my buddy knocked it off its stand and a big piece of the headstock. it doesnt play the same anymore and i want to buy a new one. i found the silverburst on guitar center but its out of stock till 2/20/09. they should make a white epiphone tbird. the white ones r the sweetest looking. they should put better pickups in it too.

The pickups are my favorite part personally. as you may have seen earlier in this thread, i was planning on buying one for a while, but alot of things have come up since then, and i can't afford one now. I'm not a huge fan of the look, but they play and sound fantastic IMO. just need to reposition the strap button to make it balance properly
