John Campbell (Lamb of god) Tone

Now. As a bassist. I like the guy. and i think his part fits really nice into the band but, I think he has the absolute worst tone in the world. Who else thinks so. Or doesnt? I think it has way too much midrange and lacks a more hi-fi sound i would expect or like to hear.

heres an isolated bass track.

Cant say I have heard them live (unfortunately) What amp does he play through or is he using a direct box?

edit: Just watched a bunch of videos. I guess he uses the mesa cabinets. Kinda sucks if thats what hes got. Cause it looks like he only has two mesa cabs. and both guitar playes had like 3 or 4 full stacks each. A bass player deserves more than that

He uses Mesa Bass 400+'s, supposedly he is looking at the BB750's or the V-12.

Also John uses two 810s, and the guitarists each only use 2 miked cabs. The rest are empty.

For the current album he used the Bass 400+, a Sansamp RBI, and a Jackson J/MM custom bass that was the forerunner to his Signature bass.

As you can tell I am a fan of LOG and JC and his tone.

Actually Johns volume is like at 2, he has said that the Bass 400+ is "Really f***ing loud".

Yeah, like I said it is a precursor, it was natural and had J/MM pickups. Go watch the new DVD. It had the exact same body shape.

His new stuff is a P-bass pickup with a EMG DC.

Im going to check the 08 stuff, I think he is using a different amp setup now.

His live tone is brutal, for a pick player that is :smug:

I'm seeing them again in January so I'll find out then what he is using, but last time his rig was the same as on Killadelphia. He now has some dummy 810's, last footage I saw he had 4 810's on each side of the riser, still only 2 miked or working.
