I just checked with Genz-Benz, and they are guestimating that these new heads will be shipping to dealers in the Feb/March timeframe.

There are two models, a 600W version and a 1200W version. They're both basically the GBE-750 dual preamp section (tube & SS) matched with the Shuttle's light power amp section.

The List Prices are $1149 and $1379, and you'll see them listed online for something like $919 and $1099. As always, I'll be able to beat those prices for TB'rs.

I've got 4 of the 600W and 2 of the 1200W on order, and I'm way early in the queue. I'll receive 6 of the first 16 amps that get shipped to dealers. The distributor's initial shipment will only contain 50 amps, so I grabbed a good chunk of them :)

If you want to be one of the first cats to try one of these, all I need is a $200 deposit to reserve one for you. The balance would not be due until I receive the amp from GB.

Cool beans on the EBS Microsbass, that is a cool little pedal indeed. I've been considering ditching my rack system (Korg tuner, Alembic F-1X pre, power conditioner)and just adding that to my pedal board. One less thing to carry is always a good thing these days.

If the Shuttle MAX heads are like the current Shuttle heads (and I'm 99% sure they are), it can go both ways. There's a switch on the back of the amp that lets you select 115 or 220. Truly an amp line for the jet-set, globe-trotting bassist :)

I did some checking on specs. I love everything, except I need something that can be bridged.

I think they should call this the GB Shuttle Max 6.2 or similar to designate two channel operation.

1 more Shuttle Max 12.0 now available. :bawl:

To be honest, I made up the "Shuttle MAX 6.0" product name. I KNOW there's a 1200W model called the Shuttle MAX 12.0, and I know there's also a 600W version of it. I assumed they will call that 600W version the Shuttle MAX 6.0, but I've yet to see that written out anywhere :) For now, that's what I will continue to call it.

Both of these models feature the pre-amp section of the GBE-750/GBE-1200 head. There is a tube section and a solid state section, each with their own gain and EQ controls. Then there's the "quick-fix" tonal adjustments (lo boost, mid cut, hi boost). Both preamp sections can be blended or used individually. All in all, VERY cool.

Then on the power side of things, the "MAX 6.0" will have one of the Shuttle 6.0 power sections (Class D, 600W). The "MAX 12.0" will have two of those Shuttle 6.0 power sections. These two power sections cannot be bridged, so you have to use two cabinets to get the full 1200W capability.

So if you're a one cab kind of guy, the "MAX 6.0" is all you need. It's basically a Shuttle 6.0 with a cooler (dare I say much cooler?) preamp section. If you use two cabs, the MAX 12.0 will be heaven on earth. 1200W in less than 10 lbs!!!!! Fah-get about it.

By the by - Cameron might be teaching here again soon. He's back in town for the time being, and I know I'm signing up for some lessons! You should track him down and get signed up! I don't know how long he'll be around, so I'm getting on it while the getting is good.

Yep - you do know me! I'm still having a hard time deciding which to drool over more - the Roscoe w/ the amazing buckeye burl top, or the Warwick NT Thumb 4-string I've been thinking about for years!

I love the idea of a four pound (ala shuttle 6.0) 600W amp head. I know almost nothing about tube preamps in instrument amps (though I've changed enough tubes in old GE amplidynes to feel like I need to stay away from them). How robust are the 12AX7's in the preamp? Average lifetime/hours before replacement?

Oh - and I just found this out - the footswitch IS INCLUDED with these heads, unlike the Shuttle 3.0/6.0. It's supposedly similar to the GBE-750's footswitch, but slightly different. The GBE-750's footswitch puts the pre-amp selection stuff at your feet (tube, SS, mix) as well as the quick tonal adjustment controls (lo boost, mid cut & hi boost). Hopefully, that functionality has been retained.

The short answer is I don't know... but I am trying to find out :)

If I had to guess, I would say yes indeed there will be one available. Last year, the bag availability followed the head by 1-2 months (NHS, I swear!!!).

And I'd guess it's basically the same price point ($30-50). I'll be coming off that signfiicantly (basically giving it away at my cost) if you buy it at the same time as the head (or within whatever time frame it takes for the bag to become available).

Make sense? Sorry, lots of words :)
