PJB Flightcase 150, strange high freq noise?

I got my amp a few days ago and I have found that after a cpl of minutes, it produces a strange high frequency almost digital sounding noise, not loud so you hear it when you play, but when you stop playing and leave the amp on, it's there and it gets VERY annoying fast.

The noise is not dependant on the gain/volume/eq/comp settings and there's no diff. if there's an audio cable connected or not, it seems to have something to do with the amps built in transformer or something. I even bought one of those filtered protecting powerbars yesterday, but that didn't do jack difference.

Anyone experienced this, or anyone with a FC150 that could take a listen and see if this is common behaviour?

Been trying to call PJB, though we have a time diff since I am in europe so I also dropped them a mail the other day but no reply so far.

Thanks!

It's probably coming from the SMPS (switch mode power supply). You'll hear this kind of noise from all sorts of lightweight wall warts but I've yet to hear it from an amp with SMPS, presumably due to any vibrations normally being damped down. Maybe a slightly loose mounting?

It's weird, and it feels a bit cack since it's a 900 euro worth piece of amp. I will take it to a store who has another one in stock, and connect them both and see if it appears in mine only, in both, or not at all, could be my crappy current here that interfere too, wouldn't surprise me at all.

I think it's an issue with yours. I wouldn't expect that to be a normal trait and still sell.

Edit: A digital type whine is also indicative of a failing preamp. (I'll try to post an example for you to compare against in say 12 hours?)

You could always try it on a different wall socket?

Sounds daft, but I've had that fix problems before (and show where there are other problems, ie dodgy wiring!)

No I feel it's a bit weird, wonder if PJB has warranty that covers cross border purchases, I got mine from Sweden, but live in France and would rather not send it back to Sweden just for repair/exchange.
