The FenderOmega is finally finished! Here are some pics...

Body: Ash. I burnt the grain with a blowtorch to give it a quasi-quartersawn zebrawood look

Back of Body: The metal shop was closed today, so I can't get a plate for the back until tomorrow.

Controls: 2 volume, 2 tone, and a killswitch. 250k pots.

High Action FTW

Me with the FenderOmega (I always seem to stick my bottom lip out when I play. I don't know why)

What do you think?

Love those tone/vol knobs! Where'd you get them? I don't like the body shape so much, but the burnt grain thing is nice. You could drive a truck under the strings - my fingers are cramping just looking at it. Over all, not too bad.

His action isn't too high. Isn't that like medium action?

I like the bass, though I wish that the curves were more refined. Maybe something like the Gibson EB1 from the 50s with the viola body.

I like the look of the body, but not the headstock. Maybe I'm just sick of seeing the same Fender headstock everywhere. Overall, though, you've made a good-looking instrument.

I really dig the wood grain. I think if I ever build a bass myself, I'll have to give that a try. What exactly was the process for that?

To the OP, if you're interested, you can put a full-size flat shim in the neck pocket to elevate the neck to lower the action.

Well done, Stickk. Cool idea to use the blowtorch to bring the grain out in the ash. I think it would have looked a little bland otherwise.

The red button is a killswitch.
