I am very excited about this!

Here is the first of what will be many "update" photos of my bass. I finally decided to go with a Koa top (over quilted sapele and quilted maple, which were the other two finalists). Check out what the luthier found! To me, it has excellent color and a lot of character to it.

And so the process begins...

Hey, Who's doing the woods for you? And from where did you source the top? I recently completed my own custom build. I think you'll enjoy the experience a lot. The hardest part is waiting for everything to get there (i put everything together in one day...and i didn't mess anything up either!!). Good luck man. -Anthony

More pictures!

The first two are of the koa pickup covers, and the last is a rough draft of the body that has been since changed just slightly...the horns were brought in so that it looks more P-bassy and less Warwicky. :D

Body pic...again, been changed just slightly. More pics to come!

It's cool, by the way, to compare the wood from the first pic of this thread to this pic...it's so dry right now, but it will regain it's brilliant reds and golds once it's been oiled. So anxious to get this bass! :D

That's a really wild looking bass! :)
Looks like zebrawood.

CFclef, not Chef, by the way. :smug:
CF are my initials, and well, F clef is for bass so I thought it was a cool name.

Thanks, I'm really happy with the koa. The only other wood I might have chosen would be some crazy Claro walnut, but since this bass is going to have a walnut body I'd hate to be redundant :p

SORRY CFclef...I've called you Chef all along!!:hiding:
Yep,that,s zebrawood...I decided to get something a little different for my "last" bass. How's the Wendler...are you playing her regular? (I miss the "lightness" of that bass. My XB75PF seems like a monster.) LOL on your build...Looks like it will be REALLY NICE.
