Double Bass Wizzy 10 Modification

I have Wizzy 10 Mod kits available.

This modification is for the EA Wizzy 10 Speaker cabinet with serial numbers that range between W10C202 and W10C321. Please note there are some cabinets within this range, sold by Bob Gollihur from the end of May 2009, that have already had the modification done.

Please note that the mod is not a radical change, it smooths out the transition from bass through the mids.

Wizzy10 Fiberglass Batting Modification

Included: (1) Precut fiberglass batting for EA Wizzy 10 speakers, Instructions.

This modification is for the EA Wizy 10 Speaker cabinet, serial numbers that range between W10C202 and W10C321. Please note there are some cabinets within this range, sold by Bob Gollihur from the end of May 2009, that have already had the modification done. Please read all instructions carefully before beginning

Items Required: Vinyl/Latex Gloves; #2 Phillips Screwdriver; Knife, Pliers

*** Wear Gloves whenever handling Fiberglass ***

1. Use the edge of a knife to lift off the Black Snap Caps that are used to hide the heads of the grille screws. Unscrew grille screws. Save the grille screws, clear washers, and caps.

2. Carefully remove the grille from the cabinet. Save the grille standoffs (if any).

3. Remove the Woofer(s), 8 screws. THERE IS NO NEED TO REMOVE THE WOOFER WIRES. Save the 8 screws.

4. Remove Fiberglass Batting (or Foam Panel). Use pliers to remove any staples.

5. Insert replacement Fiberglass Batting. A slit is precut for the woofer wires. Align the batting where the slit, for the cable, is so that there are no gaps. DO NOT STAPLE THE NEW BATTING

6. Install Woofer, 8 screws.

7. Install Grille Standoffs (if any). Install Grille onto Cabinet, being careful not to knock over the Standoffs (if any).

8. Insert grille screws through washer and tighten screws to the point where you can no longer turn the translucent washer. Put Snap Caps over the screw heads.

The batting material in the aforementioned "C" series cabs is slightly thicker than the batting material in the A and B series. The key to the mod, in the "C" series is a thinner batting material

Yes it is noticible. How noticible is more qualitative than quantitative.

Pierre,

We have had no issues with other cabs other than those mentioned. You can try the mod kit but I do not know what difference it would make. You might also look at your signal chain to find out if there is something in your EQ settings
