Boss GT-6B

owning one myself, i can say that the GT-6b was just more wasted space than the GT-10b. A lot of the knobs are there for people who are more comfortable with them but they are honestly just for show...as there are about 3 or 4 out of 10 parameters that the knobs actually control on a given effect/function.

It doesn't sound that bad, but volume control was always an issue for me with this. Half of the effects are more guitar-oriented than really for bass. Some more envelope filters and a polyphonic pitch shifter would have been great too, but again...didnt make it on there. I use it as a huge tuner, delay, and chorus pedal. I have one setting or two that I use for songs that I specifically tuned them for, but other than that it just feels like a novelty in my gear bag.

Sorry if it sounds negative, if the 10b did what you're looking for then the 6b might work well. I personally didn't feel like I could get the full usage out of it =/

Hi I'm using the GT6-B & the ME50-B constantly. The GT6-B is without doubt the better of the two. Don't know how anybody can call it a waste of space ! If you need a volume pedal, you need a tuner, you need banked EQ & master volume settings stored, a pre-amp - as additional volume is always welcome. We all want a reliable road worthy unit tried & tested withstanding the test of time. I can only comment on all of the modulation effects & oct' bass - in one word "excellent" The GT6-B is softer on the eyes that the sharp blue lights of the GT10-B. The price is presently the cost of two stomp boxes three at most. It's totally silent. The DI outs & line outs are first class. How Low can ya go ? The manual mode is a dream. If it's value for money you'er after, grab one while you still can. Yes the 10-B is the better pedal, but mostly we want meat & 3 veg !

I've been using a GT-6B for 7/8 years now, since it was released. You can say I'm a big fan of it. I was waiting the 10B with great expectations, but got a little dissapointed with a "few" differences. Some of the effects have less parameters (like the synth) and others where left behind (like the auto slap). And of course there are less knobs.
IMO I prefer the GT-6B. I use a lot of effects so the extra knobs are usefull so when I'm rehearsing with my band I can do quick adjustments while playing. It becomes more user friendly. As for the missing parameters, they could or could not be important to you. For me they are.
I think that the only advantages in the GT-10B is having the flexibility of the 2 equal FX engines, the external effects loop and the external amp control switch.
In resume, for what you say you'll use it, I think the GT-6B will do the job.

Can't assure you if the quality of the equalizer is the same, but the GT-6B has a 3 band full Parametric EQ. No graphic EQ.

As for the parameters in the synth, the 10B has 2 waveforms (Square and Sine) and the 6B has 4 (Square, Sine, Brass and Bow.) Only in the GT-6B you can adjust the PWM decay and depth in Square waveform. Only in the GT-6B you have the noise generator. In the GT-6B you have a pitch shifter included in the synth fx (pedal bend). Only in the GT-6B you have the synth hold (you can play a note, hold the synth sound and keep playing different notes with the direct sound).

As for the Octaver I would say it's normal. No paralell chain. Only a mix parameter.

Yes, you can change the order of the effects. The phrase loop (or Sound on Sound in the GT-6B) included.

You can do a MIDI dump of your Patches.

I would advise you download both their manuals and check for yourself what are the differences. There a some new features in the 10B that might be important to you.

I had the GT-6B for a few years, and sold that for the GT-10B.
The GT-10B is far superior in the amp & cab sims, they actually sound real, way more effects, and heaps of other extras the GT-6B does not have, such as the dual path chain, which can be used as a crossover with the frequency divider, and have separate effects in each path.

But i must say, even though the GT-10B synth tracks better, i did prefer the sound of the GT-6B synth.

I would say the GT-6B was modelled on the GT-3 as far as features go.

I switched to the GT10B when it was released, I have no regrets about doing so, my biggest problem witth the GT6B was that even when I wasn´t using any FX or Amp sims it still changed the tone of my bass, the GT10B doesn´t do that.

There´s just one thing, I hope that there´s a GT6B owner who would be so kind as to tell me the compressor settings in the preset called "Sledgehammer"....please

Hi, I read this 10 years later and I'm impressed with the quality of all the answers. So thanks for all the information you all gave.
I have a question, I could buy a GT6B for 100 euros. Is it still an interesting multi effect in 2019?
I own a gt100. Would the GT6B be better or worst?
I also own a Zoom B3n which I find a bit limited.

The GT-100 is much better, the GT-6B was made in 2002, and the GT-100 made in 2012, with a major firmware update in 2015.
The 100 has much more features, more effects, better amp modelling even thought they are guitar based.

So would it be a good option to buy the dgt6b for 100 Euro?

I brought another GT-6B 2 years ago, just to update the GT-6BFxFloorboard editor.
I paid the equivalent of 88 euro for it, and then sold it for about 120 euro.

So I guess 100 euro is a good price, It is functionally about 1/3rd of a GT-100, I did not like the amp modeling, the effects are 'vanailla'
but I think the GT-6B synth effect is the best out of the entire GT range.

Ok, thank you for your answer. As I don't use synth effects, I'll stick with the gt100 for now.
