In your opinion, what is the best time of year/month for bass guitar get together in the NYC area? I left out some months due to weather and holidays. But what time of year would make it easiest for you to join us?

EDIT: Please vote no matter where you live. I need all sorts of opinions to get the best possible results. Please don't think that just because you don't live in the area that your opinion doesn't matter, IT DOES. SO VOTE.

I could make late May if the dates were right, but that could be a little tricky for a weekend event. Very late July / early August is the only time I can be absolutely sure of getting there. So, whatever you do at other times, please keep the August one alive. After two years, it's almost becoming traditional.

And remember - I know where you live. :D

I voted late March as the hotel I work at doesn't open up until Easter weekend, and even when Easter is early, I can usally get an extra day off here and there if I need to in March. April so-so; after that thru closing right after New Years it's pretty difficult - I get Tuesdays off (work 6 days a week) and work weekends when the hotel is open.

John, I vote for early October.

October is that special month when summer's gone, but winter hasn't arrived yet. It can have some of the best weather of the year. The air smells like smoke, and the sunsets are often a beautiful orange and ash grey.* No one is really thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas yet.

Once we enter November, the thoughts of many start to get consumed with Thanksgiving and Christmas, and then nobody wants to do anything until spring.

Other than that, I'd agree that late July or early August is the slow, boring part of the summer in which many people can attend. Any later than early August, and we have back-to-school issues and Labor Day.

what would you think about getting 20 raffle chances with your paid admission AND if you want more chances OR if you are not able to make it to the GTG (but still want to try to win the giveaways) chances would be available for $2 each? This way more people could participate and possibly more basses would be available.

Being serious for a second - please remember, John, that the time of year will probably make a lot less difference to the NY locals than it does to some of us, as they only have to be free for a Sunday. But for us out of towners, it means a weekend trip at the minimum (more in my case) and so it's more crucial for us when it falls.

To answer your question - giveaways are great, but the least important part of the event for me personally.
