I'm with fenderx55 as far as delination may go. If its one set, then probably not. But a full night of a couple breaks and people walking around, then I may.
Tape is cheap and usually can go where needed. If there is extra setup time, more tape may come off the roll for neatness and whatnot.
But if the setup is quick and the set is short (or even long) there may not be much tape involved. You can bunch chords in spots without tape and that can work too.
As a bass player, I follow the above. If I'm running sound, I tape everything I can.
Follow the two rules: If it moves and shoudn't: duct tape. If it shoud move and doesn't: WD-40.
