Double Bass Where are the high school seniors ('10) auditioning?

Hey guys,

I know there's already a thread about this but it's from last year so I wanted to start a new one for us seniors.

What schools are all the music major seniors auditioning for this year and what is your audition rep?

This may be a little late since applications are due around this time anyway, but in case anyone's interested, Jason Heath conducted a poll on the top bass schools in the country. Some of the results were a bit surprising in my opinion, so judge it however you wish, but in case any of you are interested, here's the link: Invalid Link Removed

By the way, I'm a junior in high school this year, so I'm looking forward to see where you guys are auditioning. Good luck!

....the chinese government blocks blogs?!

Hmm interesting... Yes, the Chinese government blocks blogs, as well as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Google image search, university/newspaper websites, Amnesty International, US Army website... lots of things, but it depends on where you are in the country. I'm in Shijiazhuang and all of those sites are blocked here. Maybe when we're in other cities they won't be blocked anymore.

I'm going to be sending a DVD to Colburn. I sent one last year but didn't get invited. I think its not going to be AS competitive this year since David Moore and Paul Ellison are no longer there. The only thing that I'm worried about is if Leigh Mesh is going to continue teaching there next year. I called Colburn and asked this and they said that they don't know yet if he's going to stay. I've heard a lot of good things about Leigh and Colburn is probably the most amazing place to be studying music performance at in the whole country, except maybe for Curtis. I hope I at least get invited for a live audition this time!

If you have an interest in studying in New York, make sure you consider applying for Jeremy McCoy's studio at MSM. You can also study with him through Columbia University. Jeremy's an amazing bass player, fantastic teacher, and a great person. I'd definitely recommend trying out for his studio.

His album, by the way, is awesome.
