Money's tight this year - Xmas limit $200

We're still in the middle of building our house, so money is tight this Christmas season. My wife and I decided we will limit Christmas gifts around $200 this year.

$200 limits my options, so I've kind of narrowed my choices down to:

NEW Douglas WOB-836 $189.95 - I had already planned to own one of these as an upgrade-project bass. I'd like to add a tremolo system, locking tuners, and upgrade the pickups.

I was also thinking about the SX (Essex) URSA 6, but it doesn't look like they are in stock at Rondo any longer.

NEW Bassfish by Goldfish Guitars $159.99 - I also already planned to own one of these as a travel instrument. I had included this item in my thread of Basses that look fun to play.

NEW Maybe a 2 or 3 string punk bass from Krappy Guitars.

USED DeArmond Ashbory - I was able to find a used one for $139. Of course, I could also keep an eye on the local CL Ads. Maybe something else interesting/cheap will come up before Xmas.

@5string5fingers - I have been following those threads. Ibanez ATK's are excellent basses, but I already own an Ibanez SR885, of which I'm already very happy. I would like basses from different brands. (I also own a Warwick Thumb BO 6 and Conklin GTBD-7)

@amimbari - Yeah, except for the 4-string Bassfish as a travel/practice bass, I'm into 6-string basses. However, if I happened to find a good deal on a 5 or 4-string, I probably wouldn't turn it down.

@okrum - Definitely, I'm keeping my eyes on the CL ads for used items. Maybe something good will pop up before Xmas. Ibanez and Squier are fine instruments; they are always among the first group I recommend to people looking for a new instrument. See my reply #1 above re: already owning an Ibanez. As for the Squier, I'm kind of holding out for an american standard or deluxe Fender at a later date.

@iamlowsound - Excellent sentiment. Don't worry; I already planned to buy my wife's gifts in excess of the limit. Her gift value won't suffer due to this year's cash situation. However, I'm willing to sacrifice by sticking to the limit for my gift value. She's been incredibly tolerant of my renewed interest in music and bass purchases this year. When I made my decision to try & get back into music at the beginning of 2010, she fronted shipping charges to retrieve my bass amp from my parent's place which is located on the opposite side of the country. She fronted the payment for my new Warwick in August. (Both loans had already been repaid.) I bought my used Conklin in October, which happened to be my birthday. She ordered/paid for Conklin's official case to keep it safe as my gift.

Daddys.com doesn't ship to Canada. But GC does.

@pbasswil - Agreed, do not forget those countries during this time of year, or any time of the year for that matter. My wife is from The Philippines. Some areas experience great poverty.

I'll provide an update on Xmas. We all need a little suspense at this time of year.
