Money's tight this year - Xmas limit $200

Of the options I was considering, I chose the Bassfish by Goldfish Guitars.

The bass package included a light gigbag, 2" strap, 3 fish picks, short cable, and a pitchpipe. At first, it appealed to my odd sense humor. But this actually sounds quite good. There are 2 J-style pickups with one volume control, which suggests that both pickups are on at all times. It has 20 frets. 30" scale length and 40" length from tip to tip. I haven't weighed it yet, but it cannot weigh more than 5-6 pounds.

With this new acquisition and a search of TB, I noticed there is currently no Bassfish Club. This must be rectified immediately. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=724255

Now, the other selections I was considering were eliminated as follows. The Douglas 6 came up to $260 with shipping charges added. The used Ashbory I saw for $139 was at Music Go Round. When I contacted the store to inquire about shipping, I was advised they do not sell to Canada. I still like the idea of a project from Krappy Guitars, so I think I will begin a project sometime in the new year.

Now *that* is cool. I managed to score a new SVT-CL for a great price, documented in a separate thread here.

I also have a sideline working on amps and guitars for a number of the local guys. One in particular has just lost his playing gig, had a quadruple bypass, and is rethinking whether he wants to play anymore, all in the last few months. He has a couple of pieces in the shop at the moment waiting for him to come pick them up. Figuring he probably has enough on his plate, I called him and said "Merry Christmas! Come over and pick up your units. You and I are square."

Kind of balances the equation, I guess.
