Recently came across a “budget friendly beginner bass guitar”. It was an Aklot Helix Series PJ4. While looking over the specs, it said it had a “roasted maple neck”. The more I read, the more intriguing this little bass became. The picture of the used bass still had the plastic on the pick guard and pickups. I kept an eye on the website it was for sale on. Y’all can probably guess but the stores initials are GC.it was there week after week and I grew more intrigued. I did some digging around and was able to find limited info on said bass. I couldn’t take it anymore and pulled the trigger. When it arrived, I patiently unboxed and unwrapped it. This bass had enough bubble wrap on it, that ups could have drug it behind the truck and it wouldn’t have hurt it. I checked it out, tuned it up played a few minutes, made a couple of very minor adjustments, and played another couple of hours. This little “budget friendly beginner bass guitar “ is a ton of fun to play. This little Used, $150 bass plays as good as some $500 - $600 basses I have played and sounds fantastic. Intonation is spot on, it is set up low with no buzz, the electronics are quiet, it stays in tune really good. The roasted maple neck is fantastic and feels really good. I bought it to use as a modding platform but after about 15 -20 hours of playing, I can’t find anything that really needs to be changed or upgraded right now. Not even the strings.
