Hi! Up for sale or trade is a great playing and great sounding Sadowsky MetroExpress made in Japan! These are now made in Germany, but the MIJ models have a great reputation. This is the ash/maple variant.

Olympic white with a great tortoiseshell pickguard and a maple/maple neck. No dings anywhere I can see. The neck is smooth and just feels ‘right’ when playing! No buzzing, great action. Has the VTC!! The fit and finish are really hard to distinguish from a NYC Sadowsky. And I’ve had 3!

All original except had a NYC Sadowsky detuner installed. So, the hole was drilled out to fit the larger bore required. Original owner had that done (also a great TB’er!). Just to ease any concerns, all NYC tuners use a larger bore than the Japanese ones.

Weight is 8 lbs, 4 ozs. Nice and light weight I’ve just got GAS for some other things…

A Sadowsky gigbag that came with the bass is included. It’s used but does the job. Zippers work fine, no cuts or tears.
$1899 and we split shipping!

Thanks for looking! I am a long-time TB’er and value my track record and reputation as a solid buyer and seller.

Latest questions

Can you talk about the neck profile on the bass? Is it a slimmer C or more of a fuller C? How is the finish, is it satin back or more of a lacquer back? Super interested in your insights.

Hmm. This neck feels like a perfect Jazz neck to me. Its width is what you expect in a Jazz - 1.5” at the nut. It feels ever so slightly deeper (fretboard top to back of neck bottom - the U dimension if you will). It is a satin finish on the neck back… very smooth, no imperfections and is fast. For me, doesn’t get sticky at all while playing…

Hope that helps… anyone else out there have opinions?

Appreciate the info, I'm really interested just trying to figure out if I can make it work financially. Would you be able to quote me for shipping so I can get an idea of an all in price? I'm down in Virginia, zipcode 23320, its Chesapeake, VA.

I owned on of these Japan MetroExpress instruments when they came out. The build quality was excellent. Felt like an NYC, really.

Aloha! Would you be interested in a trade for a brand new Lakland Skyline 55-02? Trans black with ebony board and no inlays. Custom order. I love it but no matter how hard I try I am just not a 5 string player. Payed $2000 2 months ago. Comes with hard gig bag.

Wow! That’s a great looking Lakland! Unfortunately, I am in need of a CS P or J. Appreciate the offer!

Hard to fathom why this is still here. Folks are buying the cheapened Chinese and pricey German models and leaving this on the table!? Go figure.

All accounts suggest that the MIJ MetroExpress is every bit as good as the awesome MIJ Metroline, of which I have more than my share. GLWTS!
