Fender's Made in Japan Heritage series basses are incredible reproduction instruments that get all of the look, feel, and sound of the original instruments. This one is built on the early sixties patterns and absolutely nails it — every inch of this bass feels perfectly right. Super comfortable neck, and not too heavy. Fender says it was completed in February 2022.
This bass is in the same fabulous condition as it came to me, with just a small amount of checking in the lacquer (which is nitrocellulose) and a little bit of swirling on the pickguard, all consistent with a bass that's gotten a little bit of play time. It's been well taken care of.
The last owner of this bass had a Vintage Relic wiring harness installed, along with a Fender Original pickup. As far as I'm concerned, this is the best possible configuration for this bass. Live out your Pino and Hurley dreams with this bass!
These are tricky to get in the U.S. since they're a Japan-only model, but I have been delighted to have the opportunity to play this one. Unfortunately, Fender ergonomics just don't happen to work for me long-term, and I couldn't bear to carve material away from a bass as nice as this one to solve that.
Comes with original pickup and bridge covers, and travels in its original Fender gig bag.
