For sale Rare 1988 MIJ Charvel Model 3DR Fire Crackle

1988 Charvel Model 3DR, made in Japan. Dinky body with the reverse headstock. I'm the original and only owner, bought it new at Oceanside Music Supply in Oceanside CA back in '89.


It's got a quartersawn bolt-on maple neck with a 12-16" compound radius, 22-fret rosewood board with pearl dots. Pickups are a Jackson J-80C humbucker in the bridge and a slanted J-100S single coil in the neck, run through a 3-position knife switch and a single volume knob. Jackson JT6 licensed Floyd with a locking nut, and Jackson SG38-07B tuners. Serial is 312552.


Not mint but works well. Normal wear and a few dings, I tried to show all of it in the pics. Back in '95 it fell over and a small piece broke off near the high E tuner, a luthier fixed it years ago and there's no ill effects, barely noticeable. The original knife switch cap broke so that got replaced too. Wiring could use some attention, there's a little crackle when you switch pickup positions. It'll probably want a pro setup to get the action where you like it. Everything else is original.


I couldn't pin down the exact year from the serial. Some sites say '88, others say early '89. Never found this exact config with a serial this low.


Comes in a metal Black Kross case. The original chainsaw case latches broke off ages ago so I swapped it out.
