When did I get this old?

Musicians are supposed to be the poets, dreamers, and misfits. Rebels, and a little scary.
I joined Bandmix.com to see if I could hook up with a hard driving blues outfit.
In three days, all I have received was 25 offers from Dad Bands. Get your musical bliss any way you want, but when did Dad Band become a formula?
You must wear shorts on stage. You're an adult, and you've been an adult for a while, but you must wear shorts.
And a little hat. Look like Popeye Doyle.
Bring at least 16 beers on stage with you.
Spread your legs, and squat a little, like the guys from Seattle. Your an accountant FCS, and you'll go back to work on monday walking like John Wayne.
Every Dad Band songlist is the same. I think they photocopy them, and mail them to everyone over 45. Do you have ANY idea how bad Back in Black sounds thru a 35 watt combo, and a p.a. on sticks?
5 piece band= five music stands!
Home made backdrop.
Somebody's wife comes up for a Shania tune. Every single BBQ.

Am I ranting? Yup. Seriously...I think it's time for Got Junk to haul me away if this is music for someone turning 60. Insert slashing throat emoji here.

Can I ask your approximate location?

We don't all stand like that in Seattle these days (whatever you're imagining), & there is a lot of great original music happening here (that is not grunge, believe it or not) for all age ranges. Great place to be if you wanna play with others.

Have you attempted to build your own band from yourself on up?

This post really wasn't about Seattle, just a rant, and maybe a bit about over-used posing.
I'm just seeing what's out there, ready to roll, cause I can join a band in two rehearsals. I'm booked as a jobber on about six gigs now, but only one is music I'm passionate about. The rest are jobs.

Dad Band songlist (from memory)
Last chance for Mary Jane, Wonderful tonite, Knockin' on heaven's door, Back in Black, Brown eyed girl, Sweet home alibaba, Jack and Dianne, Little pink houses, Smells like teenagers, Oh, darlin, Canada only- the entire Tragically Hip songbook, I can't go on..................

hahaha I've played in this band

I think for your stated purposes you need to scour open mics and look for that kind of guitarist that has real angst in his/her hands when the notes are bent and that blues feel really kicks in. Then sit down and ask the guitarist about blues influences and gear. If it sounds like a match, then try and build a band out from a trio (just add drums).

My band is slowly turning into this, and it's mostly to do with appealing to the meat markets of cover bands in bars that wanna sell as many drinks as possible. Problem is that ageism is a thing and it's mostly the young bands that want to try something different. It's an odd mix match because the experience they want usually comes from older players. Older players seem to be stuck in their ways.
