    NAD : Quilter V803

The “scoop” input seems to boost the lows & highs a bit & cut the mids some.. Kinda like engaging the mid contour button on the old GK amps. I’m a huge Gk fan btw, but still love my Quilter!

    NAD : Quilter V803

I love my Quilter V803,( the “warm” setting , into the scoop input, my favorite combination). I have a pair of Quilter 1x12” cabs, but only really need one cabinet for all my gigging needs. They are amazing amps, very reliable, portable, move a lot of air, & produce wonderful tone! Edit: I...

    Trevor Lindsey’s Stanley Clarke Story

I’ll always be a Stanley fan , He was definitely a huge inspiration in my early, formative years.. His upright & electric chops, & man what a tone he gets out of those Alembics!

Review of the original Yamaha BB5000

No, but I bought the purple one here on Talkbass early in 2025, if memory serves me, & found the white one on the Verb, fairly recently. Both are really tone monsters.. and play so well. They do sound slightly different, which is a good thing tho, the purple one is beefier , fatter sounding, the...

Review of the original Yamaha BB5000

Thank you, it took me a while to find a white one with the wider spacing, but after a couple of years I found a closet queen! The white one plays & sounds amazing, is pristine and looked to be virtually unplayed when I bought it a couple months ago. The purple one definitely has been played a...

Review of the original Yamaha BB5000

I have 2 BB5000a’s, both with the wider string spacing.. I own & still play everything from Modulus, Roscoe, Warrior, Xotic,Lull & love all those basses, but the Yamahas are the basses I consistently keep going to. They just have a tone that works so well in so many styles of music. & I never...

Who would sponsor them if they had just become famous?

Glad to see Jaco ditched the 4 string & went for a 6 ! 😆

Dean Markley Blue Steels no bueno for me =[

I tried a set of Blue steels back in the day, in the 90’s, on my P bass, & they were very uncomfortable to my fingers, & sounded harsh to my ears.. I took them off immediately & put my old strings back on. Either Ghs or rotosound, can’t remember.. lol. But i remember my bad experience with...

I ended up keeping my D’addario prosteels 45-130 on my T bird 5, they just work better for me on the T bird)- though, I ended up putting EB cobalt flats on my Modulus, Warrior DM5, & Xotic P bass 5 string, & love em on those particular basses.

I have a 1995 Modulus Quantum 5, (pre truss rod era) it’s amazing! I’m unsure of the status of Modulus production these days though.

Appreciate the info, I was really floored how amazing the EB Cobalt flats sound on my Modulus.. it still sounds like a Modulus, & they feel amazing & are incredibly punchy.. judging by the number of folks who run them on their T-Birds, I think they’ll sound wonderful !

So it’s been a while since I’ve posted.. I’ve been playing the D’addario prosteels 45-130 on my Lull T bird 5 the past couple of years & really love em. However, I recently put a set of Ernie Ball Cobalt flats 45-130 on my Modulus Quantum 5, & absolutely am blown away by them! Anybody here...

Ernie Ball cobalt flats do they die off or stay bright?

Semi zombie thread, I just put some Cobalt flats on my Modulus Quantum 5, (previously had DR Pure blues) really loving the punch & attack of these Cobalts, & a huge thank you, to JOME77, for sending me the Cobalts!
