At first they went after a little Chinese manufacturer. But Phil McKnight claims that they really have their sights on PRS. Even if Leo had done everything right to protect his designs, that was almost seventy years ago. Good luck to them.
Not my field, but seems the cat and all of it's offspring are out of the bag and have their own families now. But I get it, "We invented this shape and it's ours." But if not initially protected and kept protected....

I have a 1995 Modulus Quantum 5, (pre truss rod era) it’s amazing! I’m unsure of the status of Modulus production these days though.
Very nice. I'm not a modern bass person, but do love to hear when others use them. Mike Gordon (Phish) used a Modulus until more recently. He had a fantastic live tone (which is all I ever listened to). I think he used Ken Smith ground wounds.

A nice pair.

Both have a nice bottom end.

The Blackbird pickups are labeled “Deep Sixx.” I don’t know if they’re wound differently, or if it’s just the absence of a tone cap. But the Blackbird does have a deeper, richer tone down low.

Both sound very similar from A on up. I run stainless rounds; Pro Steels on the Blackbird and SIT Power Steels on the Goth. No pedals. Yeah, I’m old.
Ahem and ahem!

I ended up keeping my D’addario prosteels 45-130 on my T bird 5, they just work better for me on the T bird)- though, I ended up putting EB cobalt flats on my Modulus, Warrior DM5, & Xotic P bass 5 string, & love em on those particular basses.
Good choice. They’re right behind SIT Power Steels for me and the Dunlop Marcus Miller Stainless which have a slightly softer touch to my fingers. The EBCFs are decent, just not for my taste. The only flats I use are a ten year old set of Chromes on a Mexican PBass; they just work on the bass. I enjoy playing that bass when I’m feeling tired and lazy. I can be a bit sloppy and not worry about finger noise. I’m a 95% finger style player…

I don't worry a lot about finger noise, especially after listening to Geezer and John Paul Jones isolated tracks!
