I just wanted everyone to know that Sire sent a replacement preamp. And they reimbursed me through Paypal. Apparently my problem was common, so they reconfigured the preamp. So far, everything is good.

That's exactly what happened. They sent the preamp and reimbursement. We're all good now.

Yes I am. Their customer service has been fairly good as well. We'll see what finally happens since I've had to email them again with the final diagnosis.

The technician said a chip on the preamp was corrupted. I've contacted Sire and asked them to send me a new on. I'll take it to the technician who will then install it. Thanks for all your insights. Several of diagnosed the problem better than Sire did.

They've gotten right back to me. I took pictures and sent them. But I think you all are right. Seems like a connector on my toggle switch melted. I'll let you know what they say.

You don't have to worry about me touching it, LOL. I have no soldering skills whatsoever. There wasn't a smell or anything that would suggest a short. I'll keep you all posted when Sire gets back to me. Cause I will call if I don't hear from them. And once again, thanks to all of you for jumping...

I was practicing at home, actually. I practice about an hour a day. Plugged into my Amp which is an Ampeg 100 watt Micro CL. I've looked in the site, but found nothing about operating limits.

I haven't opened it up yet. I plan to do so later tonight. I'll post a photo to the thread when I do. Thanks for all your help.

A year to the day almost from the purchase. It gave out with a large pop. I change batteries but I get nothing. Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions, other to find a good luthier? Yes, I've contacted Sire. Thanks for all help and suggestions.
