Interesting. Maybe the Amber version is more popular? I bought my SR705 last week from MF and it was $799 (charcoal brown). They were running a "Winter Sale" and I saved another $60 for a final price of $739 with free shipping. Not sure why the SR700 would be more than the 5 string version...

Are the Bart MK4’s a direct replacement for the MK1’s? How do you like their sound? Considering swapping the MK1’s out for them on mine but don't want to get into routing the body. Nice looking SR500!

New bass day! :bassist: My brand new (and first ever) Soundgear arrived today. It's a 2012 SR705 in charcoal brown although the indoor lighting really brings out the red coloring. After playing it for about 15 minutes... I have to say that I like it much better than my BTB455. The narrower neck...

Thanks for all the info. I'll definitely post a photo once the bass arrives. My BTB455QM has a bolt on neck. I have seen photos of others that were neck thru so maybe mine is an earlier model?

Wow... just spent the last two hours reading this topic starting with part 1! Just joined TB yesterday so got a lot of reading to do. Have wanted an SR for as long as I can remember (been playing bass for 20 years now) and finally pulled the trigger a few days ago. Ordered a new 2012 SR705...
