Fuzz Box or Overdrive That Keeps The Low End

I use the EH germanium 4 big muff. Very versatile and goes from a little edge till full fuzz. It has the big muff tone knob and it enables you to have incredible bass boost at a valve amp like edge of overdrive. My best bass fuzz, overdrive!

    celestion or eminence 10"

Getting a lot of interesting answers here, the piccolo8 thread convinced me to build a bass Horn cab. I'm leaning towards the celestion because it has a smoother mid responce then the eminence. The bass scoop will roughen up the mids so the speaker doesn't need that.

    celestion or eminence 10"

The horns leads the back blast of the speaker back to the front adding sound, besides that the horn amplifies by raising the area of the vent and so amplifies the signal. The horn starts at the top back and Goes down, then it bends to the front while growing in area, the low back corner is...

    celestion or eminence 10"

I have indeed done study in cab design and the bass horn came through because most 1x 10" vented cabs still come short in bass, the horn is also possible because the total volume of the cab is the same as the vented designs and the vent driving the horn has the same dimensions as the listsed...

    celestion or eminence 10"

Hello I'm a 40 watt tube amp from scratch and like to have my own custom cab. I'm planning to build a bass horn or bass scoop cab (A vented cab with mechanical amplifiction of the vent.) with an 10" and 2 cu ft of volume. It needs to be loud and so I thought 94dB watt/m would be the...

    String buzz

It's how much you mind it, if the notes are correcctly intonated thought the buzz, it's allowed. If you want no buzz at all you should raise the action or play softer.

    First Overdrive/Dist/Fuzz

I'm using a germanium 4 big muff which is really more a tonebender MK3 (overdrive) and a tonebender MK2 (distortion) in one box. The overdrive section is clean, up till about half way, and adds this tube amp like texture to your sound. The distortion is just plain and full. A very versetaile...

    Which Bass?

I would go for a Gibson EB-3 or SG bass (SG is a short scale), they have a real sixties sound and only lows, no hights anywhere!

    Drop B+F# pickups

I agree on the muddy part of the hz, If you don't like mud, go with active pickups Then however make a disicion between ceramics (agressive with tons of clarity) or ceramic steel ( more bass focus but with the whole spectrum) Another option is an CS (ceramic steel) in the neck and a C (ceramic)...

    Drop B+F# pickups

I would recomend EMG's any way, it just depends what tone you're looking for, I play a down tuned Thunder bird with a Big Muff, an EH Bass Metaphores (real recomendation) and an 15" speaker, I'm pretty statisfied with the sound so If you want big distorted tone I would look for a EMG hz set and...

Making two sets 62 ri pickups into humbuckers...?

You can with one DPDT mini switch make it series, single coil switchable, just search for humbucker split wiring on google pictures and you will get tons of results. Also A jazz bass is standart wirded paralell so with both volumes wide open you'll get a very wide spread paralell humbucker ( If...

Help with identifying Seymour Duncan Pickup

Are you sure it isn't an 5-string version of the SD AJJ-2 lightin rod pickups?? They are fore sure out of production but that doesn't mean they don't exist. It could as well be an vintage 5-string SD pickup with additional pre, ( I have no cleu why anyone would want that...). So is the sealing...

Burns London 1964 Jazz Bass wiring diagram.

I believe you have to create your own wiring, I like to help you but then you will have to say which optoins it should have, how many pickups there are 3, I persume. And how many wires each pickup has as well as the number of pots.

Making two sets 62 ri pickups into humbuckers...?

reversed polarity and winding only makes it humcanceling. just wire neck-neck or bridge-bridge in series and you will get the humbucker sound. the doubled resistance will create the fat sound and output, not the polarity and winding.

Making two sets 62 ri pickups into humbuckers...?

I'm still working on that bass but seymour duncan 2 NYC 5 string soapbar is a double jazz pickup, such a shame it's only for 5-string here is a link: http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/bass/soapbars/5string/passive_phase_i/ this pretty muck ilustrates the double jazz effect. By the way, two...
