I had the same concerns about the "LF" in the name. With the 421-8LF, the frequency response seems to be nearly exactly the same as the 421A. Looks like it's just a later variation of it. Digging around I found some positive reviews of it by pedal steel players, saying it was plenty bright...

Tried working with EQ, but the problem seems to just come down to the physical limitations of the Alpha-15 speakers. As you can see, the highs taper off rapidly after 2K.
