Coronado Bass RI string length

Thought I'd share this in case anyone else is planning on throwing some new strings on their new Fender Coronado reissue.

I bought a set of D'Addarios to restring it, a shortscale round wound set, and found that they were way too short, despite being advertised for a 30" neck. The taper started just before the nut on the E string. This is due to the extra string length behind the bridge.

Lesson learned, no big deal, really wanted flatwounds anyway, so I picked up a set of D'Addario ECB81M medium length flats. The length on these was more appropriate, maybe a hair long on the E (see photo below), but usable. No tuning issues so far. The only catch was the wrap on the ball end of the E wouldn't fit through the tailpiece. The hole was significantly too small. Gradually drilled out the hole until the string would fit, 3/16" was the bit that worked. The 3 other strings all fit with no modification.

What strings sets have others been using?
