Update: We paid another visit to the shop, and I had my daughter play that bass and a couple of others. The Geisler bass is in good shape, and weight-wise, weighs about the same any other bass and the same as an Eastman hybrid they had there which she also tried while we were there. Sound-wise...

We're in North Carolina. They are asking $3,500. It's a 3/4. It's music store that only sells string orchestra instruments. Also bass is fully carved, spruce top and maple body.

She only played it briefly, but she said she liked it.
