My search for an Attila Balogh Odyssey bass is over..

A fresh pic, to put a spark back into the Odyssey talk! Anyone come across an Odyssey guitar or bass, lately? There's been one or two on eBay, in the last year, but.. other than that, I haven't seen a thing. Keep the Odyssey legacy alive!

Thanks, @stacker! This was definitely a 'needle in a haystack' find, for sure! @Millsbass5, Odyssey Guitars closed in '82 or '83, and Atilla died in '85, but at today's prices, I don't know that you could buy a custom bass guitar of this caliber, for under 2 or 3 grand.. .. but what do I...

Yeah, that's a stellar bass, right there. I don't think I'll be comin' across to many more Odysseys of this caliber, in the years to come, so.. pretty certain I won't be givin' up my Odyssey, in this lifetime. ;)

That bass is SICK, Eric! The color really kept it's boldness!! Incredible.. You have GOT to get some pics from the bass like mine, soon! .. & I'm still tryin' to find out how AB coded his serial numbers in the later years, so if you've got any insight on that, let us know!

I got a response from the guy who runs http://www.odysseyguitars.ca, regarding serial number coding, on the later model Odyssey guitars. He says he has no idea about what the process was, but says he's gonna take a look through some old emails, & see if he can come up with the answer.

Well, it took me 20 years of searching pawn shops & online auctions to finally find mine.. ..so, the question is whether or not you can even find one.. I paid $1600 for mine, but I think I got lucky with this find.. .. REALLY lucky.

Yup, been to both pages! Emailed the guy who runs them, but haven't heard back from him, just yet.

Hey, I noticed that there's no serial number on your headstock, like there is, on mine.. at least, not that I can see, in the picture. I take it our production years are different, and they did different serial placement? I'm not actually truly sure what year mine is. The early odyssey...

Yeah, he sure knew how to make a heavy bass, didn't he.. Lucky enough, I won't be doing too much gigging with this one. ;)

.. amazing, Jbossolo. Yours is in fantastic shape, too! I'm glad some o' these basses still exist. .. like I said, it's been one of my life's goals to find one, for the past twenty years.

Yeah, that clear thumbrest is interesting! It's just a piece of rubber tubing, screwed into the bass. While my original plan was to get rid of that little mod, immediately after it was shipped to me, it kind o' grew on me, so I decided to keep it on. It's just part of the history of the...
