Give my rock/poppy lines a listen, feedback appreciated

FYI (hi Eric! :hiding:), higher quality MP3s are available on our Facebook Page (stupid MySpace re-encoding the files... grrr...). Feel free to say we all suck, but he *did* ask nicely for some feedback on the bass parts... so... pretty please? :hyper: :bassist::bassist::bassist:

    rate my bands recording quality?

Can you describe your recording setup? To my ears, it sounds like everything was recorded live with just a room mic, with some additional micing for the vocals and guitar (or it's DI). It's harder to make out the drums and especially bass. I agree with DWBass above that everything sounds...

Where should I be after 1 month of playing?

lonestarwings, aren't you the guy who's taking lessons at Red Leaf (how do you like the school/instructor, BTW)? I started with lessons about the same time as you, but from Ed himself at Bass Emporium. I'm only on page 38 of the first book (30 min. lesson once a week, practice about 30 minutes...

    Self-Taught In Afghanistan

FTA_Forever, I'm actually taking lessons from Ed Friedland, the author of that book (I'm assuming you're using "Bass Method, Book 1"). I'm about where you are (page 38, a few ahead of you), and figured I'd chime in: [FTA] - I am finally on to the 8th notes portion and I notice that I cant...

    Beginner Bass/Amp Reccomendations, $1500

When I went shopping in Bass Emporium, I hadn't ever plucked a string myself - and I walked out of the shop with my Spector *still* without having plucked one. Chuck spent plenty of time with me explaining this and that (what a P-bass pickup arrangement sounds like, ditto with J-bass style...

    Beginner Bass/Amp Reccomendations, $1500

lonestarwings, I just started on bass myself (have only had 2 lessons so far), and would heartily agree with the suggestion of going to Bass Emporium (it's on Anderson, in between the railroad tracks and Burnet). I bought an entry level Spector that I couldn't be happier with, and the guys at...
