I felt it was a better choice for me to be able to use different cabinets. I dug out my receipt and it showed I had paid $849 and $109 for the 2 year. I posted last night here on a different thread for the correct price for the CMD121p. JimmyM wrote me back and said it was $849 inculding the 2 year service charge (thanks man). I have heard that elsewhere on TB but couldn't find it. Anyway the guy at GC in Danvers MA said no way, the SC was above the $849. Can somebody set me straight once and for all. I only want to pay the fair price and not have the concerns that I've gouged.

Get Peter Murray involved. He's a TB member, associated with Markbass, and seems to have some pull in cases like these.

So... I'm a drummer with a bad case of bass G.A.S. I've had three lessons so far and practice unamplified, so I tried running this by the spousal unit:

ME: "I think I need to get an amp... My instructor told me to make sure I practice finger technique to get all the strings playing at similar volume, and it's hard to hear unamplified..." (Seemed like the most logically sound excuse I could come up with...)

HER: "Sounds reasonable... How much are you going to spend THIS time?" (Just a few months after spending $$$ for a complete set of SKB hard cases for my drums/hardware).

ME: "About *mumble*thousand*mumble*" (Cross fingers, hope for the best).

HER: "Yeah, sure."

ME: *jaw drop*. *quickly pick up wallet and keys, buy PRONTO*

Member number, please! :D

cut down to cab-width and painted black.

as long as we are playing in clubs and using PA, I can't imagine I'll need more---the 300w at 8-ohms is plenty.

The Schroeder is a very audible (mid-voiced) cab

I do miss the lowend thump at floor level but I'll trade it for audibility. The sound guy makes sure there is plenty of lowend out front.

I'm running a similar rig right now, but I opted for the Markbass combo instead of the separates. I put mine on the floor, though, and I use a piece of 2x2 I found behind a dumpster. Painted it black, of course! I have a B-15N cab being made that I'll be using with it for most gigs, though. I really do miss having a wall of sound behind me. The 12" by itself is great, but I only like it on the floor, and when I tilt it up, I don't get the same feeling like when it's pointed at my head.

Maybe that's because when it's on the floor--it's hard to really tilt back enough to get your ears in direct line to the speaker. I've used mine in a floor tiltback arrangement and also did not get that same feeling.

When it's elevated--I can move forward and back and my head stays at the same level as the speaker. When it's pointed up from the floor--moving forward and back quickly changes the direction from directly at your head--to above or below.

Also, when on the floor--it seems much louder to the other band members (relative to me) and I can't get it to the volume level I need to overcome the other stage noise.
