Did they make many? Has anyone come across any fakes? Anything to lookout for?

    Question about bridge cover

No problemo! So, my next stupid question is: With the p/u cover on, ..and for that matter, the bridge cover too, how did Fender intend you play it? With a pic? What is the lower black bar for? Is it a thumb rest for playing the G string? My '73 is drilled for an upper thumb rest. This makes...

Dimarzio DP127 split P, not impressed

I don't know but I hope he didn't really ditch! I honestly liked some of his ideas. Yes, I know #14 A.W.G. is very heavy wire for such low current but it's got me going enough to try it some time just for the hell of it.

    Question about bridge cover

I was aware of that. It is the p/u cover that I am puzzled about.

    Question about bridge cover

I have often wondered, is the p/u cover the same as a J or is the P a different part? In my travels, I've come across J p/u covers but only P bridge. My '73 P is drilled but I never noticed when I bought it from the first owner and never asked if he had them then lost contact.

Sorry, I thought it was a P J setup I must of had this confused with another thread. But that makes it even easier. The diagram you need should then be this one: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] It should work!

I think it is going to be good because that p/u has a killer rating for L.F. you just have something going on there that's cancelling it all out. I found the wiring diagrams .pdf downloads page here: Wiring Diagrams | DiMarzio and when you select the sub links you get more wiring diagrams than...

That would be a series-parallel set (if there are 2 wires joining the two) Here's the pdf download there is no diagram though so you have to read carefully. It says when combining the 127 with another pickup, you can be out of phase ..and there goes your low end. DiMarzio Split P ™...

using wire nuts instead of soldering for pickups replacement

Another way to make good splices that I just remembered is these little terminal strips used on some Italian and Spanish applications they resemble real neat little barrier strips like those used on the balanced outs of Dbx 166's (compressor/limiter) and other PA except each terminal of the...

A regular P J set is series with one (+) lead soldered to one half of the set the other (-) lead to the other half. What you end up with is a series offset split single coil humbucker, right? Now with this DiMarzio: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] you now have two double coil humbuckers split...

Do they actually give you the option of series or parallel wring? That will affect the D.C.R . The info they give specifies a D.C.R of 19.16kOhm and output voltage 250mV ..I would assume that is they are pre-wired in a set?? ..or do they offer individual coil taps? How Can I get the Fender tone without the Fender BackAche?

Keep that good sounding ash body and use it to counter balance you. After you have enough beers, it will keep you from falling over and you'll feel no pain.

using wire nuts instead of soldering for pickups replacement

The grey Marrettes are the correct size and if you follow the chart on the box it specifies the max # of conductors for a range of A.W.G. sizes and combinations thereof. You can't go wrong. Never re-spice twisted wires more than once though and for that reason it's a good idea to solder before...

using wire nuts instead of soldering for pickups replacement

Not prefferrd; absolutely neccesary. Solder can't be avoided on any connections. I can only be as good as the one who knows how to solder the right way though. All splice caps can do make it possible to change out parts quickly by means of a tap or splice. Just like solder, splice caps are only...
