Thanks so much for taking the trouble to write this up. I can't believe they put metal screens around the pre-amp stages but didn't bother to ground them. Did the mod and the bass is now perfect, no unwanted noise whatsoever........until I start playing it.

Re being too old - I started playing bass guitar in the 60's at age 16 but gave up and sold the gear age 20. I went back to it on my 70th birthday (it was just as though I'd never played before in my life) but now at 73 I am gigging regularly, learning 20 new songs a month on Bass guitar and...
