I should do my own setups from now on

I have been doing my own setups for years. Adjusting the truss rod, setting string height, setting the intonation, replacing pickups. Look it up on YouTube. For me it was pretty easy to figure out. I saved a lot of money by doing the work of my basses. ________________________________ A...

How many hours to learn bass?

I started playing songs when I picked up the bass. I had bought a bass and an amp and I had no idea how to play, but I had a very good ear for music. I had taken piano in school a few weeks prior. I never learned how to read music, or studied music theory. I don’t count, I play by feel. I also...

Are 5 strings on the way out?

I play both 4 & 5 string basses. I use the 5 string basses more often because I am in a alternate and classic rock band, along with being in Church choirs. There is a lot of music requires that low b string. I can’t understand why people are so anal about 5 string basses, or pick players. I play...

    Slinger harness strapped strap locks

I am thinking about a Slinger Harness strap, since it goes over both shoulders, and the waist. I know that my current Schaller strap locks won't work with this strap since both shoulder straps connect in the same place. Does anyone know of any strap locks that would work with this? Thank you for...

If you could only have one bass, would it be a Precision?

I have played Fender Jazz basses and P basses. I would stick with the Jazz bass. It is a more versatile bass. It can sound like a Rickenbacker 4001, and a P bass. I have always preferred the sound of a Jazz bass.

Fender American Deluxe vs. Fender American Elite Basses

I bought my American 5 string Jazz Deluxe, a couple of years ago. It was already discontinued when I bought it. I got one of the last ones ever made. I got a good deal on it. Because the Elites had already come out. I absolutely love that bass. The action is set really low with no buzz. The...

My Geddy Lee Fender Jazz Bass was made in Japan. It is a fantastic instrument.

    5 string flatwound set

It was a post that popped up, when I was doing a google search for flatwound strings. I am new here, but not to bass playing. I have been at it for 39 years.

    5 string flatwound set

Hey, I play the same bass. It really doesn't matter the brand, or cost. It's all a matter of personal preference. I prefer stainless steel flatwounds, and have used roundwounds in the past. I found that a long gauge string works fine, with strings that have to go through the body. I also use...
