    I think I am done(NBD).

I don't see a piezo on that stingray, both of the other two are fenders and non of them are fives. try again.

Weight of a bass that important? Down to the decimals?

people act very strangely about a few pounds. i never found it mattered AT ALL, but then again from a young age I played standing up for 6-8 hours on end like daily, with a thin cheap nylon strap, got used to it. this is while having a backpack on the rest of the day at school, which was usually...

    $800, 5-String Bass Shoot-Out

agreed, they only put the really good sounding pickups in the stuff that NEEDS to be competitive.

Stinks to be a bass player sometimes

This is why stores should buy used high end stuff off of people and sell them for cheap. Nothing ruins your GAS tank like seeing Close to MSRP prices on everything. You just shake your head and go home to craigslist.

One Stingray (ish) bass to rule them all!

If you want a cheapo that rocks the sound and is somehow amazing try the ibanez atk line.

One Stingray (ish) bass to rule them all!

What is so special about expensive amps?

I'm not even that old and even in my youth most cheap stuff was trash. It was only till around the time i was past starter gear that the really entry level stuff started to kick serious ass.

So GC sends this catalog out (MM Stingray SLO content)

Ernie Ball basses are better than the regular musicman ones due to the fact they keep working on and improving them. They haven't sat around using the exact same design for 60 years, they've been growing as builders, designers and a brand into something that's always more than what came before...

For the snobs that look down at your Squier Bass - Show them this . . .

are you saying he couldn't afford it or something?

    $800, 5-String Bass Shoot-Out

you realize the bass doesn't really decide the tension of the B string. It's the actual string itself. Other than the bridge action and relief, and the way you play (which are on you to adjust properly) the only other affecting factors are the scale length (which supposedly on the one you had...

    $800, 5-String Bass Shoot-Out

the vintage modified and classic vibe squiers are better than the MIM ones.

    $800, 5-String Bass Shoot-Out

but poopie, the only fender pickups that sound bad are the MIA and MIM ones. Custom Shop and squire stuff are all fine. Which Makes me wonder why ibanez is using pickups that generally sound worse than all of these even when you buy a decent quality bass.

    Playing Bass "correctly" with guitar

If your combo has a gain and a volume knob just crank the gain up all the way then set the volume to where you're loud enough, that SHOULD get you a nice grimy distortion to work with.

    Loud rehearsals.

could be that your notes are dissapearing cuz your cabs have really bad freq response. Could also be the reason your bass notes are getting muddy as heck, because you don't have fundamental you're relying on being in the guitar players' tonal range to create the illusion on your lower notes...
