    Ernie Ball Stainless Flats

Sorry for the late reply... I did not end up trying them, but I'm glad to learn that I'm not the only one out there that went through this!

What's the most charitable way to interpret this bit of the Katana 500 specs?

I had to go digging for it. I think I'm remembering this post from @agedhorse from a few years ago, where it seems he has calculated ~700W for that amp. But there are also a lot of people in that thread that stated that their 500W amps were as loud or louder. So there's quite a bit of play...

What's the most charitable way to interpret this bit of the Katana 500 specs?

To be fair, @robert_stuart has made a chart above where he lists a Bugera "2,000W" amp in first place in terms of price per watt. But that 2,000W figure is well-known to be exaggerated, and the true RMS figure is believed to be like a third of that. So the way that these amps are advertised is...

What's the most charitable way to interpret this bit of the Katana 500 specs?

I noticed previously that Boss had responded to this question on one of the review sites: Power Talk Now, let’s address the elephant in the room – output power. I’ve seen some chatter online about the specifications being peak rather than RMS, so I went straight to the horse’s mouth and asked...

The math behind putting a 32” neck on a full scale body

I think it is worth pointing out that the listing doesn't call it a conversion neck anywhere. It is just a 32" scale neck that fits 4-string Fender-spec neck pockets.

The curious case of the mystery MIM Jazz neck / skunk stripe repair???

Did you check all of the frets? It's also tough to really know if the truss rod is working without getting it on a body and putting some strings on it. I think I'd hold off on doing too much more work on it until you've got it on a body and are sure that it doesn't have anything major wrong...

Hey UPS, 'dimensional weight' is not a thing.

Like the poster above me mentioned, the dimensions printed on the box are not the actual exterior measurements. I believe that they might be the interior dimensions of the box. Because guitar packages are large and relatively lightweight, you're paying for the volume, and they've recently...

32” Scale Conversion Neck Market Survey

I do think these conversion necks should be sellable. The heel adjust truss rod is not that bad if you have dealt with it before. You can simply unscrew the neck joint screws by a half inch or so and the neck will pop right up to adjust it. I can even see the argument that one might prefer...

What would the best flatwound string set option for a 5 string bass be in your opinion?

I avoided TI flats for years due to the price, but I finally broke down and bought some, and I'm absolutely in love with them now. I have them on one of my 5-string Jazz Basses right now and will shortly be getting a set for the other. For the record, I have tried most of the flats on the...

Official Nordstrand Acinonyx Cat bass club

Can you use 600 grit sandpaper or 0000 steel wool to dull the shine and make the chrome one satin? Searching around, it seems to be possible. The tuning peg, stem, and lever seem easy enough to sand. The gears might prove trickier, but those are not all that visible anyway.

Official Nordstrand Acinonyx Cat bass club

It looks like the part number that you tried previously is the same one as that poster used in their build and the same one that Hipshot mentioned doesn't come in a satin finish. The different finishes all have their own part number. I think your only option if you wanted them all to match...

Suggestions on flatwounds for my Jazz bass

Another vote here for TI Jazz Flats. They're just incredible.

    Keeping motivated without forward momentum?

Oh, wow, I just realized I've played a parade or two with you before. You guys sounded pretty good! Anyway, yeah, those parades can get pretty brutal if cold and wet. That said, I went through a long period of not playing from around 2020 - 2024 and I found that I missed it way more than I...

NBD, Dont sleep on the Bill and Ted's local Pro

I have found that there’s little correlation between instrument price and neck playability. Small differences in neck profile make a big difference, and people have very different preferences in what they look for in a neck. It seems that a lot of people actually really like this bass for its...

    stage presence?

Unless, of course, that's your vibe. Some rock / indie bands I've been a part of had a definite "working person" or "everyday person" aesthetic where "these guys just got off their shift" or "these guys are just hanging out" was an intentional part of the vibe.
