where to sit in relation to amp to hear it realistically? (what I hear vs. what the group & the room hears)

I jam in a (mostly) acoustic circle - ~10 acoustic guitarists, one amplified lead guitar, myself on electric bass, percussion and vocals via a PA. Ten acoustic guitars playing together can be loud! I’ve had my 1x10” close in front of me, in front of me pointing away, and now a 1x15 about 8’...

Custom Basses with Major Focus on Ergonomics

I Have a 5 string EHB1505MS with the fan frets, and enjoy the looks and the playability. I’d like the neck to be a smidge narrower, but it’s really okay. I never use the pre-amp and get the tone I want mostly from my Helix and the amp. Pros: - Fits in a guitar case - easier to get in my...

Bassists who are lefties who play righty club.

Never occurred to me to play guitar or bass any other way than how all of the guitars I saw were set up, that is to say, right handed. Never paid any attention to the fact that Paul's bass pointed the other way than George's guitar, except that it seemed to keep them from hitting each other at...

    Vocals and amp

When I was a poor kid in the 60s we used to do it all the time - whoever had an amp with two input jacks got to plug a mic in. But guitar and bass amps have limited frequency ranges and don't really do a good job on vocals. You won't hurt anything by trying it, however.

    Calling all Geezers...

In '68 I played a Vox Cougar bass which came in a really swell orange fur-lined case: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] Paisley or some such strap, coiled chord. Ampeg SB-12: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] I still have the Cougar and the SB-12. Don't know where the pickguard is, I...

    wireless in-ear monitors

I've been working on my IEM rig - the rest of the band isn't interested. So far, I've used a SM58 as an ambient mic into a PM351, and I just got a Line Out added to my Blues Junior. So I can mix those together and it sounds fine. The Line Out is post Power Amp, so I actually get all the amp...

    Need In-Ear Monitors

Latest update: I wanted a wireless IEM setup also. Since the normal transmitters are big$$, I decided to try reversing the XDS95. So the phones output from the PM-351 goes to the input on the XDS95 transmitter box. Even though the phones out is stereo / phones level and 95 input is mono /...

    Need In-Ear Monitors

Tim: I've been working on this for maybe two months; most of the time doing research and the last several weeks assembling components. Before the PM351, I tried a Mackie 402-VLZ3 mixer. Which worked, had a better sound quality, and took a much bigger footprint on my pedalboard. Also...

    Need In-Ear Monitors

So here's what I've rigged up. I have Etynomics ER-4s which I bought for airplane travel. Great sound attenuation even with the stock rubber flange earpieces. And great quality. Rolls PM351 headphone amp/mixer. Takes three inputs: your mic, your instrument and a monitor mix. Your mic...
