Show me your vintage Japanese Bass!

Lace Alumitone - actually a guitar humbucker. They work on current - not voltage. They sound incredible - very clear and defined; they also sound good with active electronics. :D

The official "Show your basses" thread part 17!

Thanks... The SG has a DiMarzio Model 1 @ the neck, and a Lace Alumitone Deathbucker @ the bridge. The only reason for the swap is because the stock Gibson TB+ humbucker hummed & buzzed in about half the rooms I play. (In fact, all my Gibsons with TB+ pups did the same thing in the same rooms.)...

Yep - a Gibson TB+ humbucker; it came out of one of my Les Pauls.

No neck dive at all with the LP, but the EB-3 or SGs plummet immediately. However, as long as your right forearm is in contact with the body, there's no problem; it's only going to dive if you let go completely...

Show me your vintage Japanese Bass!

1983 Aria Pro II CSB-300 (modified a bit) This one sat in the basement for years (in pieces). Last year I decided to rebuild it, and I'm glad I did. It's turned out to be a real player. I love the 32" scale. My wife bought me this '81 CSB-380 for Christmas. I added the Bill Lawrence L-90...

A few medium scale high end wonders....

These aren't Jazz Basses, but there are usually a couple of Aria Pro II medium scale basses on eBay (MIJ Matsumoku). The yellow one is a rebuilt & modified 1983 CSB-300, and the red one, an '81 CSB-380, is the next project. These were both inexpensive; they aren't "high-end", but they play and...

Is there one bass that you've regretted getting rid of?

I have a nice '92 I've been thinking about selling, but don't know what to ask for it. I'm new to this forum, so I don't know if it's even OK to mention this. The bass is in very good condition, but not perfect. Here are some pics...

What kind of strings do you use?

DR Low Riders, but lately they've been going dead way too quickly. The last set made it through one job; the next day they sounded like rubber bands. DRs have always sounded good to me for at least a month, but the last 3 sets I've had have been very disappointing.
