Absolutely I am. I've actually got gut strings on it right now (Lenzner) and it's playing really, really well. The action is great, it's loud, dark, but fairly rough-sounding and kind of two-dimensional. Certainly not as subtle as my carved basses. Still, for jazz and bluegrass, it's fantastic!

I have two Shen basses: A carved "Strelau" model (no longer made), and a plywood SB-88. both great basses, even with their "quirks". Neither is my main bass, but they're great instruments. Especially the hybrids I've played at shops lately. Congrats and have fun!

Well, I got married last weekend and I remembered this thread. My solution was to just wear it on my right hand. After trying and trying with a sterling silver "stunt ring" that was the same size, I couldn't get used to it. Here's what it looks like!
