Prog Wars : which bass player ?

Dave Pegg with Fairport Convention and Jethro Tull excellent player. Of course Wetton, Levin, Lee, Squire, what about John Paul Jones? He is pretty progressive, guess it depends on the definition.

How come we all don't play Carvin instruments & amps/cabs?

Best (non-Fender) bass I ever owned was the toilet seat bass (EBMM Bongo 4HH) and I have owned Alembic (Epic 5), Rickenbacker (2 x 4003 including a 4003S5 which I stupidly traded away in college), Warwick (thumb), Spector (NS-2A), many Fenders, Peavey Cirrus. My all time favorite bass was the...

SOLD FS Only: Fender '76 Jazz Bass

If it is anything like my '76 (and it looks identical) weight will be something along the order of "heavy as sin". That being said the best Fender neck I have ever played is on my '76 and this one is a doggleganger of mine same maple fretboard, same inlays, etc. *Bump for an awesome Fender*

How come we all don't play Carvin instruments & amps/cabs?

I think what this guy is asking is by buying direct from the manufacturer avoiding distribution and 3rd party handling plus supporting the music stores, IF the basses are boutique quality why isn't their business model more popular certainly you should get more bang for your buck. My answer...

    It's 2013. What's in your stable?

I have two Basses right now, a 1976 FrankenFender Jazz Bass/P-Bass Hybrid (1976 Jazz Neck, Pre-CBS P-Bass body, Bartolini Passive P/U's...Neck Split-Coil, Bridge Jazz Style and before I get flamed for routing out a pre-CBS P-Bass it was done before me so I just made it work) that I have had...

Epiphone Thunderbird Pro VS Jackson JS3V Concert

For the money this is the bass to get IMHO. I realize the question was Jackson vs. Epi T-Bird but when confronted with two bad choices the better option is to pick option 3.

    Basses that disappointed you...

I had a Warwick Thumb, played one gig with it and brought it back to the store, great practice bass didn't punch through the PA at all. Had the same issue with a Stingray, it was a single humbucker, came back and tried a Bongo about 15 years later with 2 Humbuckers and fell in love. Also...

What would you have as your second bass behind a P?

Might want to look at a Musicman Bongo 4HH, great bass Lots of variety on the tone, if you need it to sound like a P it can if you want it to sound like something else, it can. I have a Jazz and backed it with the Bongo love that bass.
